Bioengineering (BSc) in English language

The training objectives of the English language bioengineering bachelor's program are:

Training of bioengineers in English language serves to acquire modern theoretical and practical scientific knowledge in the field of Biology, Biotechnology, Engineering in order to perform both research and development work, and also organization and management tasks in scientific jobs, in various institutions of economy and industry, and acquire high-quality professional English language competencies. All these competencies will provide better opportunities on the job market, or to continue the studies in specialized MSc programs in Hungary or abroad.

Bioengineers in the bachelor's program are prepared for the following tasks:

• safe and environmentally conscious operation of biological/biotechnological systems, services related to the field of bioengineering and associated commercial tasks,

• to perform laboratory, semi-operational and operational tasks, to learn and implement new methodologies, to solve occupational safety problems,

• to perform complex tasks of a given specialization, to apply theoretical knowledge in practice in the field corresponding to the chosen specialization,

• to perform partial tasks in the development and design of technological systems, the development of new processes and products, research activities in chemical, biological and allied sciences,

• to apply computer skills, handling databases necessary for performing tasks,

• to get to know and understand previously unknown new processes, products and systems,

• understand the technical documentation in English.

What does a bioengineering student learn during the 7 semesters of the bachelor's program?

• basic knowledge of natural sciences: mathematics, physics, general chemistry, organic chemistry, basic biology, biochemistry, informatics;

• economy: micro- and macroeconomics, management and entrepreneurship, business law;

• professional core material: functioning of biological systems; applications of physical chemistry and materials science; measurement and control technology; mechanics and operations; technology; cell biology, microbiology, genetics, molecular biology, biotechnology, additional knowledge required for specialization which forms part of the core material.

The undergraduate training of bioengineering students is completed by a longer internship outside the institution. Bioengineering training is basically carried out by the departments and institutes of the Faculty of Science and Information Technology and the Faculty of Engineering.

Optional specializations

Within the bachelor's program, three specializations can be chosen:

• Applied biotechnology

• Food rating

• Environmental

Students with a bachelor's degree in bioengineering will be able to apply biological, genetic, molecular biology, chemical-based technologies in biotechnology, chemistry and engineering industries (pharmaceutical and food industry), related industries and other related fields (food and nutrition science, agrobiology, environmental and health protection) in a broad sense of biotechnology industries (pharmaceutical and food industry), chemistry and engineering. They control technological processes and the personnel operating them, perform analytical tests, in-process and final quality control, participate in research and development, design activities and the design of technological processes. They can apply their bioengineering skills in services, agriculture, industry, commerce and public administration. They can communicate the results of their work effectively – both for professional and non-professional circles – using the tools of information technology, also in professional level English language. However, the unconcealed aim of the bachelor's program is also to prepare students for participation in the corresponding master's program.

What can students after graduating with a BSc expect?

• They can be highly qualified operators - in research institute, food industry, healthcare, pharmaceutical, environmental protection

• Engineering professionals trained to perform tasks requiring bioengineering knowledge - in institutions, industry, services, commerce

• Master's degree (MSc) in Hungary or abroad

Karikó Katalin a kukorica szimbólumot választotta magának.
